Job Description

Job Summary
The Director of Local Community Life Oversees the creation and sustenance of an environment that promotes personal and spiritual development and enrichment of the Sisters in residence at the Motherhouse.

Job Responsibilities
• Provide occasions for spiritual enrichment.
• Provide for overall pastoral care for the Sisters.
• Make decisions about non-Ursuline use of Motherhouse chapel relative to canonical appropriateness and nature of petitioner's connection to the Mount Saint Joseph Ursuline community.
• Make arrangements for someone to be present with a Sister in the hospital.
• Coordinate funeral arrangements.
• Accompany Sisters to emergency room if needed or see that a Sister is accompanied.
• Organize celebrations: seasonal, personal and traditional.
• Direct housing arrangements for Sisters in residence at or visiting the Motherhouse and others visitors to the Motherhouse.
• Attend to decor and environment.
• Provide for activities that meet physical needs of the Sisters.
• Make available opportunities for personal development.
• Plan and lead monthly motherhouse community meetings.
• Direct resident Sisters' retirement/transition planning in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
• Communicate and publish Motherhouse information as necessary.
• Send agenda of monthly local community meetings to the Leadership Liaison prior to the meeting.
• Make the minutes of local community meetings available to appropriate persons.
• Communicate with all relevant persons long range plans for upcoming events in a timely manner.
• Develop and monitor the annual budget.
• Ensure furniture and equipment is available for Sisters as needed (except those in Saint Joseph Villa)

• Supervise Information Receptionist
• Arrange for weekend and evening coverage as needed.

• Have a thorough awareness of the needs of aging populations.

• Have basic computer skills.
• Be conversant with liturgical and spiritual norms expected of a practicing Catholic.

• Solve problems and motivate others to do the same.
• Establish and rearrange priorities and do advance planning.
• Cooperate and collaborate as a member of a team.
• Be respectful, tactful, and maintain confidentiality.
• Demonstrate excellent listening skills.
• Work days, as well as evenings and some weekends if/when required.

Education, Training and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree preferred, combination of education in administration, leadership, spirituality and religious life could also be considered. 3 - 5 years of similar work experience expected.
