Cardinal O'Hara High School is currently seeking candidates for the position of Principal to begin July 2025.Essential Position Responsibilities:
Cardinal O'Hara High School seeks an educational leader to articulate the vision and mission of our school and oversee the total educational program of the school. the successful candidate will be directly responsible for the day-to-day educational operations of our 9-12 high school. The Principal assures that annual programs for students, faculty and staff are planned, implemented, and evaluated in consultation with the Chief Operating Officer and Board of Trustees. The Principal is ultimately responsible for overseeing that the educational experience is consistent with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the mission of Cardinal O'Hara High School. We seek a Catholic, mission-centered educational leader who will continue the school's pursuit of innovative instruction, faith formation, service opportunities, and competitive co-curricular programs.
A background in education is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Must be a practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church.
• Current teaching and school leader certification issued by the State of New York (or in process.)
• Master's degree in Educational Administration from an accredited college or university.
• Strong knowledge of instructional and curriculum design best practices and a passion for implementing best practices and seeking continual improvement.
• Preferred minimum of three years in administrative experience in education.
• Ongoing Professional and Faith Formation Development
Experience:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of educational leadership experience
• High School Teaching experience
• Preferred minimum of five years of experience in a Catholic school.
Essential Tasks to Perform as Principal:
• Supervises and evaluates the teaching staff, ensuring that the proper elements of instruction are implemented.
• Supervises and evaluates assistant principal and athletic director.
• Manages staff and program improvement processes, as well as teacher Professional Development Plans.
• Responsible for the recruitment and hiring of instructional and support staff.
• Manages and edits the staff handbook.
• Implements and enforces policies related to faculty, staff and students.
• Responds to and resolves complaints and grievances of students, staff and parents.
• Develops goals and objectives for the educational program.
• Oversees procedures to facilitate the delivery of programs, student discipline, scheduling and recordkeeping.
• Coordinates various Diocesan and District programs with the regular education program.
• Attends athletic events, evening school functions, and attends school-related community events.
• Oversees school safety and security processes including crisis management and evacuation procedures.
• Manages, analyzes and interprets data, including assessment results, for school improvement purposes.
