Job Description
Summary/Objective: SCN Associates are lay women and men committed to living the mission and spiritual legacy of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. The coordinator is responsible for the effective administration of the SCN Associate Office and must have a strong commitment to the SCN Mission statement and to the formation of women and men in the SCN tradition of apostolic spirituality. The Coordinator must understand the theology of the Church and of the role of the laity in the church as expressed in Vatican II and post Vatican II documents.Essential Functions:
• Work collaboratively with the Director of the Office of Charity Connections
• Work collaboratively with the SCN Associate Core Council to provide direction, goal setting and evaluation of the Associate relationship.
• Collaborate with the Core Council in
o Planning Core Council meeting agendas and preparing meeting materials.
o Contacting and working with speakers for Associate weekends
o Developing/revising policies and procedures and communicating any changes to the Province Leadership Team for review/approval
o Promoting new membership, especially among younger people
• Oversee the process related to prospective Associates.
o interview inquirers interested in becoming potential Associate Candidates
o contact each Candidate one year into their orientation to discuss their readiness to make a commitment.
o interview Candidates before they make their first commitment and assist them with writing their commitment statement.
• Prepare and hold recommitment services in various places for those who cannot come to Nazareth to make their recommitments.
• Collaborate with SCNA Regional Representatives and stay in touch with long-distance or shut-in Associates.
• Encourage awareness and a loving connection with the SCN Family in a multicultural world especially our SCNs and Associates in India, Belize, Botswana, Nepal, and the U.S.
• Oversee the maintenance and updating of the general files.
• Communicate, meet, and participate in on-going education and formation opportunities with groups such as the TRI-STATE Conference of Associate Leadership (Regional Group in OH, Southern IN and KY) and OPAL (Ohio Pennsylvania Associate Leadership).
• Keep Associate website updated with assistance from International Communications team.
• Promote and maintain Associate membership by planning, coordinating, and communicating Associate activities to the membership.
• Send notifications and encourage Associates to attend regional/national Associate organizations, pertinent workshops and events taking place.
• Prepare timely articles and work on the Associate Newsletter three times a year.
• Meet on a regular basis with Province Leadership Team Liaison.
• Include Province Leadership Team Liaison in Associate Core Council meetings.
• Prepare meeting reports for Western Province Board and the Executive Committee when requested.
• Forward information to Associates when requested by Province Leadership Team or Communications office.
• Develops and administers the annual budget according to established guidelines.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience: Master's degree preferred or equivalent combination of a background in theology, education, training, and experience.
Licenses/Certificates: It is preferred that this person be an SCN Associate.
Supervisory Responsibility: This job has no supervisory responsibility.
Other Skills: Skills in Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, conversant with communication technology and other programs needed. Experience in the adult formation process.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a Full-Time position. Nights and weekends may be required.
Travel: Must be willing and able to travel.
