Job Description

The Coordinator of Religious Education is primarily responsible for the coordination and oversight of the parish's Religious Education program and sacramental preparation programs. The qualified candidate will be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church. Three years of experience in parish religious education along with a bachelor's degree in Religious Education or Theology is preferred. Knowledge of Spanish would be helpful but not a requirement. This is a fulltime position and will report to the Director of Religious Education.

Primary responsibilities:
• Supports the Religious Education Team in the organization and implementation of the Religious Education programs and individual sessions.
• Assists the Religious Education Team with Sacrament preparation programs.
• Responsible for maintaining the database for the Religious Education Formation Department.
• Communicates with parishioners in regards to Religious Education programs and sessions.
• Serves as facilitator for the Diocesan "Keeping Our Promises" curriculum
• Handle correspondence and communication via mail, email, or text with the volunteers and parents in the related programs.
• Receive visitors for Religious Education Center, and answer the phone for the office.
• Recruit catechists and assistants
• Prepare classrooms, materials for catechists, grade level curriculum, class rosters, attendance cards, door lists, master class book and distribute student's materials.
• Responsible for yearly reports of statistics for Religious Education Program, Keeping Our Promises For the Sake of God's Children (Education for Adults and Children) to the Diocese.
• Responsible for the background clearances for the parish (For the Sake of God's Children). Contact and send information to new volunteers and those needing renewal. Maintain and upkeep records kept at the Religious Education office of all clearance forms. (this includes signed Covenant forms for all volunteers)
• Other duties as required by the ministry.
