Job Description

Saint Bernadette Parish is seeking a part-time (30 hours/week) Coordinator of Religious Education to assist the Director of Religious Education in the execution of the parish Religious Education programs, including weekly religious education classes, monthly Family Faith Formation classes, weekly Children's Liturgy of the Word program, Saturday SPRED program for children with special needs, and bi-monthly Trinity House Gatherings. Additionally, the individual will assist the DRE and the Director of Youth Ministry in the management of the parish Confirmation Preparation Program.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate our main Religious Education Programs:
• Become proficient in the textbooks used in our classes: Alive in Christ (Our Sunday Visitor), YouCat, The Body Matters (TOBET), and be knowledgeable in other supplementary materials available to catechists. Provide suggestions and assistance to catechists regarding appropriate materials, classroom management, and communications with parents.
• Coordinate materials and copies for catechists in the main program as well as the volunteers in CLOW, SPRED, and Trinity House Gatherings.
• Assist in coordination of sacramental preparation programs for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.
• Empower and equip volunteer catechists through recruitment, training, and ongoing support.

Build Community through Communication:
• Foster relationships with parents, students, and parishioners through clear, regular communication as directed by the DRE.
• Create and share compelling content via newsletters, social media, and the parish website to promote programs and events as directed by the DRE.

Celebrate Faith through Events:
• Assist with coordination of transformative events, including retreats, workshops, and sacramental celebrations.
• Partner with ministry leaders to organize service projects that inspire active discipleship.

Collaborate for Impact:
• Work closely with the DRE, Pastoral Associate and parish staff to align formation programs with the parish mission.
• Participate in staff meetings and diocesan initiatives to ensure excellence in ministry.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or a related field.
• Experience: At least 2-3 years in religious education, pastoral ministry, or a similar role in a Catholic parish setting.

Skills:
• Experience in program planning and volunteer management.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database management, and social media platforms.

Working Conditions

• Flexibility: Availability for evening and weekend programs as needed, particularly Tuesday and Wednesday late afternoons/evenings for Religious Education classes.
