Job Description

Chesterton Academy of St. John the Evangelist is a classical high school in the Catholic tradition in Charlottesville, Virginia. We opened our doors in August 2024, and we are looking to hire an additional full-time teacher (or two part-time teachers) with a strong background in the liberal arts who can teach mathematics and/or science. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree or higher with three years or more of teaching experience, though consideration will be given to candidates with less. The ideal candidate will understand the classical approach to both mathematics and science and the role these disciplines play within an integrated and hierarchical liberal arts curriculum. Someone who cherishes the mathematical and scientific insights of authors such as Aristotle, Euclid, Jean-Henri Fabre, and Charles De Koninck, will be well suited for this teaching position. Salary commensurate with experience.

Faculty members must be practicing Catholics who are willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium and attend daily Mass with the student body. The Catholicity of their approach to education should be evident in their acknowledgement of the objective validity of natural reason, their estimation of reason as both supporting and pointing to faith, and their recognition of the subordination of the light of reason to the light of Christ, who is the divine Wisdom of the Father in the love and unity of the Holy Spirit.
