Job Description
Engagement ManagerCross Catholic Outreach is a Catholic ministry with an ecumenical staff of Catholic, Protestant, and Eastern Orthodox believers working in unity to provide food, water, housing, education, orphan support, medical care, micro-enterprise, and disaster relief and the love of our Lord Jesus Christ to the poorest of the poor in more than 30 countries around the world. Position Title: Engagement Manager
Department: Parish and Community Services, Church School, and Community Development
Position Location: Remote
Position Type: Exempt or Hourly (As determined by Human Resources)
Reports to: Senior Director, PCS
Position Summary:
The Engagement Manager will be responsible for leading ministry staff and volunteers to both deepen and expand engagement within churches, schools, and faith-based groups like the Knights of Columbus. The focus will be to increase engagement by a community or group with one or more of our PCS initiatives: Box of Joy ministry, Food Packing Events, and Liturgical Campaigns, helping Cross Catholic Outreach to accompany these communities on their journey of faith and allow us to bridge the gap between the US Church and our ministry partners and beneficiaries in Latina America, Africa and around the world. Inviting the US Church to also consider supporting our ministry by raising funds will also be a central focus. The individual in this role will also provide collaboration and oversight of volunteers and promotion of PCS initiatives. This position requires sensitive interaction with internal and external stakeholders. The Manager will work closely with the PCS Sr. Director and PCS managers to motivate and empower teams to reach both the organization and the department's strategic and financial goals. Two full-time coordinator roles will also report directly to the Engagement Manager.
Educational or Certification Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree or commensurate experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Character Required
• Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of the ministry.
• Feels a calling to serve God through serving Cross Catholic Outreach in this capacity.
• Believes in and supports the mission and ministry of Cross Catholic Outreach and agrees with the conduct policies and conduct expectations of Cross Catholic Outreach.
• Must have an intimate knowledge of the Catholic Church and the structure of Catholic parishes and schools.
• Fundraising & Engagement: Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising; comparable sales experience will also be considered.
• Leadership: Strong leadership skills, including managing direct reports and leading teams with clarity and purpose.
• Team & Volunteer Management: Demonstrated success in recruiting, engaging, and managing staff, volunteers, and teams to meet individual and group goals.
• Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with experience using donor databases and online fundraising tools.
• Systems & Strategy: Aptitude for using modern tools and techniques to drive engagement and training initiatives.
• Excellent Communicator: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and motivational abilities.
• Multitasking & Problem Solving: Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and resolve challenges in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional Presence: Conducts self with professionalism and courtesy across all organizational levels.
• Faith-Based Commitment: Dedicated to Christian-based fundraising and passionate about advancing the mission of Cross Catholic Outreach.
• Travel: Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally, approximately once per month, for meetings, donor visits, and mission trips to CCO project sites in developing countries.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
• Lead and support a team in planning and executing strategies that grow engagement and fundraising initiatives (Box of Joy, Food Packing Events, and Liturgical Campaigns), aligned with Cross Catholic Outreach's mission.
• Develop and oversee procedures to ensure departmental goals are met and projects stay within approved budgets.
• Coordinate with internal departments to align fundraising and engagement efforts across the ministry.
• Carry out special projects and additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Relationship Management & Execution
• Develop and manage relationships with donors and Catholic organizations, including the Knights of Columbus and other national organizations, to foster long-term partnerships.
• Organize and execute donor engagement activities, including mission trips, events, and campaigns to promote giving and deepen involvement.
• Represent the PCS Department in meetings and serve as a visible ambassador of Cross Catholic Outreach.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation
• Develop and monitor policies and operating procedures to comply with internal policies and industry standards for Christian ministries.
• Monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual activity to achieve goals; provide accurate and timely pipeline reports.
• Uphold process protocols for the organization and department related to donor records and accurate documentation of all interactions with donors.
