Job Description

Position Opening: Principal, Elementary/Middle School
Reports to: System President
Contract, 1.0 FTE
Start: July 1, 2025

Position Summary:
The incumbent in this position serves as the Academic Administrator and Chief Operating Officer of Lourdes Academy Elementary and Middle Schools, responsible for the daily management, support, and promotion of Lourdes Academy Primary School staff, students, and academic program, focused on upholding a faith-based culture with emphasis on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:
The incumbent is responsible for the staffing, orientation, scheduling, and evaluation of teachers and the supervision of all support and service personnel in the facilities, and takes a leadership role in facilitating communication, cooperation, and support among and between administration, staff, students, parents, the LA Board, President, other administration and all other community stakeholders. This leadership role includes a commitment to providing the environment and support necessary for maximum student development and learning outcomes aligned with sustaining Catholic Christian values.

Supervision and Management of Lourdes Academy Elementary and Middle School Faculty and Staff
• Communicates expectations for staff performance commensurate with criteria identified for purposes of evaluation.
• Emphasizes Lourdes Academy philosophy and mission and the Green Bay Diocesan Code of Personal and Ethical Conduct as non-negotiable standards for personal and professional demeanor.
• Oversees creation, review, and/or implementation of appropriate feedback and evaluation instruments for all staff
• Observes and provides timely feedback to staff consistent with identified job performance and expectation criteria.
• Encourages, support, and facilitates open communication and cooperation between and among all staff in particular as it affects student learning and development outcomes.
• Assumes a proactive role in conflict management and resolution
• Recommends personnel actions related to programs and services
• Creates and/or shares "Faculty Handbook" with all staff
• Enforces policies and expectations for professional demeanor, conduct, and job performance as communicated in "Faculty Handbook" and during annual orientation sessions.
Promotion of Academic Excellence and Faith-based Climate and Culture within Lourdes Academy
• Reviews and approves new and existing courses and programs, seeking the input of appropriately knowledgeable staff when advisable, and recommend curricular modifications or program proposals to the Lourdes Academy Board as necessary.
• Provides ongoing cooperation and support for instructional development aimed at productivity of the teaching/learning process with attention to the continuity of instruction.
• Advocates, nurtures, and sustains a school culture and instructional program conducive to pupil learning and staff professional growth
• Plans, provides, and communicates opportunities for ongoing professional development
• Oversees implementation, as necessary, for individual educational plans/modifications that ensure the success of all students
• Emphasizes continuous improvement while celebrating success
• Promotes faith-based culture in all actions, interactions, scheduling of events
• Provides leadership in facilitating communication, cooperation, and support among and between students, staff, and administration.
• Recognizes the spirit of discipleship between and among students and/or staff
Communication with all stakeholders: Director of Educational Services, President, Board of Trustees, Parents, Staff, Students, Diocese, Alumni, Parishes, Community at large
• Oversees daily announcements for students and staff
• Consults regularly with administrative team on all matters pertinent to creating and sustaining optimal academic and faith based climate and culture.
• Provides frequent communications for parents and families via newsletter, email, text, or other means of providing updates.
• Attends monthly Board of Trustee Meetings and deliver "Principal's Report"
• Submits articles or letters acknowledging and promoting Lourdes Academy for school and/or community publications
• Prepares reports for the diocese, parishes, alumni, and community as required or directed by the President or Director of Educational Services
• Advocates for Lourdes Academy at community events for which stakeholders have extended an invitation
• Offers openness and approachability for the timely resolution of student, parent, and/or staff concerns which may inevitably surface and require immediate attention.
Leadership in areas of staff and student recruitment, assessment, and retention; facilitation of scheduling, budgeting, and maintenance on a yearly and daily basis.
• Recruits, interviews, hires, and provides appropriate orientation for new staff
• Determines the scope of educational program offerings and prepare drafts of course schedules and descriptions to estimate staffing and facility requirements.
• Ensures adequate staffing, scheduling, and orientation for all instructional and support services following budgetary requirements
• Collects and analyzes survey data, regulatory information, and data on demographic and employment trends to forecast enrollment patterns and curriculum change needs.
• Collaborate with teachers to develop and maintain appropriate curriculum standards
• Reviews curriculum standards for establishing performance goals and objectives
• Emphasizes vision and mission of Lourdes Academy.
• Promotes student recruitment and orientation via information sessions, invitations to "come and see" the elementary and middle schools, community events, publications, attention to transition details, and a focus on individual and collective excellence in academic and faith based school climate.
• Oversees the maintenance operation with input from appropriate staff
• Prepares and submits budget requests and recommendations following consultation with staff and appropriate data input/analysis.
Leadership in display and promotion of Christian values
• Leads school prayer on a daily basis
• Recognizes staff and students for displays of Christian values
• Maintains an office atmosphere of Christian charity (patience, kindness, approachability) and desire to assist all in "becoming the best versions" of themselves, an atmosphere that extends to the entire campus.
• Models fairness and integrity in all interactions
• Demonstrates Christian discipleship in maintaining an open and effective communication and public relations program with parents, students, alumni, parishes, and community at large, both in and outside of school
• Models Catholic Christian principles in all verbal and nonverbal communications
• Advocates for all opportunities to live and grow in one's faith
• Lives as a Christian!

Qualifications:
• Is a practicing Catholic, in good standing, able to support, affirm, and uphold, by work and example, the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Meets state of Wisconsin DPI and Diocesan Certification requirements as a School Principal under Wisconsin Laws
• Has strong background in a leadership or management position
• Is a proven leader who can motivate and inspire others to accept challenges, change, and new opportunities
• Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills
• Presents professional image
• Possesses familiarity with appropriate National Standards for Performance Excellence with a willingness to pursue the National Award in conjunction with system accreditation
• Promotes a warm, professional, and friendly environment with respect and recognition given to all stakeholders including Lourdes Academy faculty, staff, parents, students, alumni, community members, and other visitors.
• Demonstrates a commitment to diversity among faculty, staff, and students, consistent with Catholic Christian values.
• Supports Lourdes Academy Board of Trustees and Green Bay Diocese Policies.
• Commitment to the highest standards of customer service
• Ability and willingness to work effectively with others to promote teamwork and the values of Lourdes Academy
