Director of Faith Formation

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The DFF performs duties as assigned by the pastor, and will collaborate with diocesan officials as required. The regular duties of the parish DFF include, but may not be limited to:

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION:
1. Oversee classes and associated programs including PREP (Parish religious education program) and OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) as well as Vacation Bible School.
2. Recruit, train, and support catechists.
3. Communicate with parents.
4. Prepare classrooms.
5. Prepare calendars and rosters.
6. Order books and supplies.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION (FIRST RECONCILIATION, FIRST EUCHARIST, AND CONFIRMATION):
1. Oversee classes and associated programs including pre-marriage preparation, marriage enrichment, and other steps to prepare for sacraments.
2. Collect baptismal certificates and required paperwork.
3. Keep accurate sacramental records and communicate them to other parishes as needed.
4. Collaborate with pastor and parish staff to plan & implement parent meetings, liturgies, etc.
5. Collaborate with parish staff to plan receptions.

FAMILY MINISTRY:
1. Coordinate Adult Faith Formation - Bible Studies, Alpha Program, Etc.
2. Assist with Holiday and Social Engagement Functions.
3. Funeral preparation/planning.
4. Safe Environment program administration.
5. Attend parish gatherings, events, and social functions.
6. Collaborate with the Coordinator of Evangelization and Outreach.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Active, faithful membership in the Roman Catholic Church in good standing with a deep love for God and for God's people is required.
2. A Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in theology, pastoral care or related field.
3. Experience of four or more years in parish ministry or parish administration is desired.
