Job Description

The Associate Director provides Evangelical and Catechetical formation opportunities in the Diocese of Madison. The Associate Director works collaboratively with the Director of the Office to offer support and pastoral guidance to all Catechetical/Evangelization/School employees as well as Pastors and Parishes. The Associate Director helps to disseminate the intentions and directives of the Bishop to the various parishes and staff in the areas of Evangelization & Catechesis.

Essential Job Functions:

Participate in Diocesan Initiatives to further the work of the New Evangelization in Parishes and Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Madison
-Serve as team member in the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis helping to cast a vision and plan for the work of the Evangelization in the Diocese
-Serve as a Diocesan Mentor for Go Make Disciples Diocesan Initiative
-Participate in the vision, planning and implementation of the Mazzachelli Institute of Mission and Leadership (Newly formed formation program for Leaders and missionary disciples in the Diocese)
-Oversight of the Diocesan Totus Tuus Program
-Oversight of the Diocesan partnership with Catholic Apostolates

Maintain Diocesan Standards/expectations and offer support in areas of Evangelization/Catechesis to parishes and Catholic Schools
-Oversee and Manage the Diocesan Catechetical Certification Program
-Determine program expectations for Certification
-Review and update content and curriculum Certification Tracks
-Facilitate Certification Workshops
-Develop and brainstorm new directions and changing dynamics of certification

Develop and Oversee Diocesan Standards/expectations for Sacramental Preparation in the Parishes
-Manage and update Sacramental Preparation Guidelines for each Sacrament
-Provide training and resources for Sacramental Preparation for Parish Catechetical Leaders and/or catechists and Catholic School teachers
-Provide and communicate RCIA guidelines and recommended resources

Oversee and Manage resources and catechetical materials
-Publish Approved and Recommended Basal Texts
-Offer Alternative Catechetical Formation

Maintain and build relationships/communication with Pastors and Leaders throughout the Diocese in the areas of Catechetical Formation, Evangelization, Sacramental preparation, OCIA and Adult Faith Formation
-Offer training and support opportunities for Parish Catechetical Leaders
-Getting Started Program
-Parish Leader formation, one on one mentorship & small group formation
-Yearly convocation & Spring Meetings
-Catechist formation and Training
-OCIA Training
-Manage monthly communication between Diocesan offices and Parishes, Pastors and Catechetical leaders
-Act as a liaison from the Bishop's office to the Parish Catechetical Leaders

Required Competencies:
-Must possess organizational skills with the ability to form vision and implement complex planning and goals
-Must have leadership abilities to lead others in the tasks of the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis
-Must possess excellent communication skills in both writing and speaking in all settings (from one on one to Large group presentation)
-Must possess interpersonal skills to work alongside a team of individuals to collaborate on projects and goals
-Must have work and "in the trenches" experience of planning and organizing parish/campus catechetical ministry and formation
-Must be proficient at Social media, Microsoft Office and general web page knowledge as well as communication platforms (Doodle, Google, flocknote, Zoom, Teams etc.)
-Must have the ability to work nights and weekends when necessary and complete moderately physical tasks (lift 35 lbs)

Required Education & Experience:
-Must possess a master's degree in Theology/Catechetics or related field
-Must possess 3-5 years of ministry related experience in a parish or school
