Job Description

The Director of Counseling at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School leads the Counseling Center, overseeing programs that support students' academic, college/career, personal, and social development. This role involves collaboration with faculty, parents, and external resources to foster a nurturing environment aligned with Catholic values. The 12-month position starts July 1, 2025.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the academic, career, and personal/social development of students.
- Ensure the counseling program aligns with the school's mission and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model.

Student Support:
- Provide individual and group counseling to address students' emotional, social, and academic needs.
- Oversee college counseling services, guiding students and families through the college selection and application process.

Collaboration and Consultation:
- Work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and external mental health resources when necessary.

Program Administration:
- Supervise and evaluate counseling staff, ensuring professional development and adherence to ethical standards.
- Manage the Counseling Center's budget and resources effectively.

Crisis Intervention:
- Lead the school's crisis response efforts, providing immediate support and intervention as needed.

Educational Programming:
- Organize workshops and seminars for students and parents on topics such as college planning, financial aid, and mental health awareness.

Qualifications:
•Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field.
•Minimum of five years of experience in school counseling, preferably in a high school setting.
•Demonstrated leadership experience within an educational environment.
•Strong understanding of adolescent development and the challenges faced by high school students.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•Commitment to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church.
