Job Description

Humanities Teacher, Full Time*

*Part time options may be available depending on the candidate pool and the school's needs.

Our Lady Seat of Wisdom, a Chesterton Academy is a Catholic classical high school in north metro Denver which exists to be a joyful haven where students grow in wisdom and encounter our Lord Jesus Christ for the glory of God and the salvation of souls. We educate students in the Western civilization tradition and the liberal arts and sciences. We are seeking full-time teachers who will be able to teach multiple levels of at least two of the following subjects: History, Latin, and Theology. A bachelor's or master's degree is required, preferably in History, or a related Humanities field. Three to five years of teaching experience is preferred, as well as experience in and passion for Catholic classical education and forming high school students in the Catholic faith.

The candidate must be a practicing Catholic and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Candidates ideally have previous teaching experience, and demonstrate excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field by the time of employment. Candidates must be pursuing their own spiritual development and living in a manner that provides a good example of a Catholic life. Candidates must actively support the mission and vision of the Chesterton Academies.

The candidate should possess teaching ability, content excellence, classroom management skills, and the capacity to take on extra-curricular duties, clubs, mentorship in the Houses System (the House system is designed to promote character and virtue and to help students grow in holiness), and other duties as assigned. Full time faculty members are required to attend daily Mass with the entire student body and participate in spiritual retreats or other school activities.

History and Theology classes meet three days per week and Latin classes meet four days per week. Each period is 45 minutes long.

Position Details
Schedule: All faculty are highly encouraged to attend the CSN Annual Summit (https://chestertonschoolsnetwork.org/csn-summit-2025) June 16-19, 2025. Employment starts August 1, 2025. Faculty report for in-service training in mid-August. During June and July, teachers are expected to devote 10-15 hours per week to class preparation.

Classification: Exempt

Salary Range: $43,000 - $80,000 for full time, highly dependent on experience, skills, education, and other factors permitted under Colorado law, prorated for part-time or reduced class schedule.
