Job Title: Director of Development

Job Description:

The Director of Development fosters a culture of philanthropy within the organization, ensuring that the organization's culture, systems, and procedures support fund development strategy. The Director is responsible for designing and implementing the school's fundraising development plan, including capital, annual fund, major gifts, grants, and special events. Also responsible for championing the organization's community engagement strategy, including communications, event management, public relations, and volunteer engagement, that leads to strong community awareness of the organization's brand.

The Director of Development is a full-time, salaried position and reports to the President. This position works with various campaign volunteers, the board of directors, consultants, and donors and provides reports to all stakeholders. Additionally, the Director of Development will maintain a portfolio of major donors and is responsible for the cultivation and stewardship of this portfolio.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and oversee the school's development plan, encompassing the capital campaign, major gifts program, and annual fund.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors to achieve capital campaign objectives.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors to enhance the major gifts program.
- Manage the annual fund program, including coordination of mailings, annual fundraising campaigns, and employee and board fundraising efforts.
- Lead stewardship and cultivation initiatives for both current and prospective donors to foster effective relationships and communications.
- Encourage each board member and volunteer to contribute their utmost to fundraising endeavors, both personally and professionally.
- Supervise grant-seeking activities, including research, proposal writing, and compliance with reporting requirements.
- Expand and maintain the agency's opportunities for in-kind revenue.
- Lead and manage the coordination of fundraising special events.
- Attend community fundraising opportunities by participating in public appearances and accepting speaking engagements to disseminate information about Cristo Rey Miami.
- Integrate with school programs and activities to provide donors/prospects with real-time experiences.
- Participate in Board and Development Committee meetings.
- Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
- Supervise and collaborate with other fundraising staff.
- Direct the creation of publications to support fundraising activities, such as annual reports and newsletters.
- Develop the annual operational budget for the Development Department, monitor financial performance, and manage objectives regarding operational expenditures.
- Fulfill other related duties as requested.

- Must possess organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to follow direction and work independently.
- Must maintain the highest discretion regarding donor confidentiality and privacy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.
- Some travel and occasional night and weekend work are necessary.
- Attend all events to support other staff and volunteers, ensuring exceptional execution of special events. Participate in post-event activities, including stewardship and evaluating successes and challenges.

Management Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and supervision to the Development Coordinator.
- Manages and optimizes all donor, prospect, and gift management systems and informational reports.
- Coordinates the sound fiscal operation of the development function, ensuring timely, accurate, and comprehensive assistance with charitable contributions, income and expense budgets, reporting, monitoring, and implementation.
- Facilitates and supports development resources to maximize both quantity and quality, aiming to achieve specific outcomes.

Public Relations, Marketing, and Communications Responsibilites:
- Foster strong Cristo Rey brand awareness in the South Florida region.
- Identify and cultivate new audiences aligned with the mission.
- Execute website, social media, and program marketing strategies.
- Provide assistance and guidance on all public outreach events.
- Serve as a representative for Cristo Rey when necessary and be open to collaborating with other staff members in all aspects of the Cristo Rey mission.
-Generates and utilizes all fundraising materials, board solicitations, annual fund appeals, annual reports, reports to donors, major donor cultivation materials, and donor acknowledgments.

Relevant Work Experience:
- A 5-7 year track record of successful major gifts fundraising, encompassing campaign management, donor stewardship, prospect research, and familiarity with donor management systems.
