Job Description

SUMMARY: The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is seeking eligible candidates for the position of Music Director at the University of Houston Catholic Newman Center. The Music Director will work to prepare and lead music for Mass held at AD Bruce Religion Center on Sundays during the academic semester at 10:45 am. The Music Director will also help with liturgies for Holy Days of Obligation, Ash Wednesday, and Holy Week. This position is part -time and not benefits or PTO eligible. The Music Director must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Musical training or instruction and experience with the organ or piano required in order to demonstrate successful mastery of these musical instruments in solo performance and accompaniment modes and capacity to direct a choir, cantors and musicians in liturgical celebrations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
-Knowledge and ability to play organ or piano; vocal ability also preferred.
-Ability to direct a choir, cantors, and musicians in rehearsal.
-Minimum of six months experience in participating in music for Mass.
-Current UH Student is preferred but not required.
