Job Title: Assistant CookCategories: Part-time school year, full time summer
Location: Annunciation Heights Camp & Camp Saint Malo
Reports to: Manager of Food Services
Compensation Range: $14.42 - $20/hr. Pay commensurate with experience, salary history, and additional role(s)
Start Date: April 2025
THE POSITION: The Assistant Cook will support the Manager of Food Services in the upkeep and operation of the kitchen. He/she will assist in serving of up to three daily fresh meals to campers and staff at Annunciation Heights. The Assistant Cook will proide for the smooth operation of all Dining Hall activities including food preparation and service, cleaning, and staff supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
~ Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the commercial kitchen and dining hall at Annunciation Heights: daily meal preparation; preparation and/or execution of any or all meal components; supervise kitchen staff and volunteers in accomplishing all daily assignments and any facets necessary for daily food service.
~ Assist with ordering and inventory, food storage, and cooler, freezer, and pantry upkeep.
~ Direct the cleaning of the Dining Hall to ensure the highest degree of health standards.
~ Supervise Kitchen Staff effectively to create a positive work environment.
~ Ensure all kitchen equipment is functioning properly.
~ Work with Manager of Food Services in developing new menus and menu rotations and healthy eating options for staff and campers.
~ Help to create an authentic hospitable dining room experience for all guests in order to advance the mission of the camp.
~ Be available to work during the week and weekends to meet the demands of the camp's guests.
EXPERIENCE:
~ Commercial cooking experience preferred; proficiency in all areas of a kitchen necessary; experience with large cafeterias or buffet style restaurants.
~ Ability and experience to execute and direct tasks with proficiency and high culinary standards.
~ Ability to delegate & manage staff effectively.
~ Ability to multitask and set priorities.
~ Must be detail oriented and guest service inclined.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
~ Must be able to remain standing for most of working hours.
~ Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
~ Must be able to perform respective tasks listed.
~ Must be able to work flexible hours/days and long hours.
~ May be exposed to hot, humid work areas.
~ May be exposed to caustic chemicals.
~ Requires proper handling of sharp instruments and power-driven equipment.
~ Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, and the ability to adjust focus.
~ Requires local travel to perform related duties.

~ To give assistance in any phase of the ongoing operation of the camp when need warrants and when assigned by the Executive Director or Director of Operations.
~ To joyfully give 100% effort to the job, understanding that it is all encompassing and requires more than 40 hours per week during the summer.
