To support the Diocese of Phoenix in its mission of encountering the living Christ, this position is responsible for serving as key advisor to the bishop, pastors, and leadership staff in strategic oversight and administration of the properties and buildings of the Diocese of Phoenix.
This position provides guidance and assistance in the construction of new buildings, major maintenance projects, renovations projects, and emergency repairs for diocesan, parish, and school buildings and properties as well as serving as a procedural liaison with relevant government agencies.
Essential Job Functions

Coordinates new construction and major renovations of all buildings and properties, including project funding sources and uses, budget management, pay requests, contract administration, site inspections and warranty issues.
•
•Coordinates adherence and implementation of the maintenance and procedures and guidelines for projects $100,000 and over or others with particular needs.
•Oversees and assigns projects to the Construction Project Manager.
•Ensures that all diocesan approvals have been obtained in the proposal, design, and construction.
•Ensures compliance with all legal and safety requirements in partnership with the Assistant Construction Project Coordinator.
•Maintains an updated approved list of architects, engineers, specialty consultants, and contractors acceptable to the Diocese.
•Reviews and reports on plans and specifications for diocesan construction projects.
Performs field visits and prepares reports on major construction projects.
•Prepares projects for the Diocesan Building Commission.
•Is available for consultation as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
•Ability to work in a team environment and maintain good working relationships with diocesan and parish staff.
•Ability to effectively evaluate, negotiate and execute design, service, and construction contracts.
•Extensive knowledge in senior management, architecture, planning and supervision of construction projects.
•Willingness to keep current in construction, renovation, and maintenance fields.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Spanish proficiency preferred.
•Ability to work with a diverse multi-cultural community.
•Ability to make decisions, solve problems and consult, reflecting Catholic teachings and traditions.
•Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
•Working knowledge of computer applications related to all job functions.
•Ability to achieve professional confidence of others and to elicit cooperation of others.
•Able to manage multiple complex tasks/projects and remain calm under pressure.
•Must be able to demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism.
Minimum Qualifications
•B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or other related field.
•Licensure in respective field preferred.
•Ten years' experience working in a related field.
•A minimum of five years' experience in project management with an emphasis in construction.
•Active practicing Roman Catholic who is in full communion with the Church.
•Able to articulate a clear understanding of the Catholic faith and to serve as a committed witness to its mission.
•Able to maintain a current AZ driver's license, understanding that frequent travel and site visits to parishes and schools is a part of the role.
•Ability to exercise prudent and independent judgment, and maintain efficient, confidential procedures in handling Diocesan matters.
Work Environment
•This job operates in a professional office environment.
•This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, office/cell phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
•Frequent field visits to parishes and other properties will be required.
Physical Demands
This role will require site inspection work including walking construction sites, climbing rooftops and scaffolding.
