Purpose and Scope

To support the Diocese of Phoenix with its mission to Encounter the Living Christ, the Digital Video Producer will lead the distinct types of productions of video content including the weekly video content for broadcast, the diocese's social platforms and the live, weekly Sunday TV Mass.

Essential Job Functions

• Oversees all production for the weekly, live televised Mass and the pre-and post-Mass programming that airs Sunday mornings on local CW7 in the Phoenix market.
• Responsible for planning, creating, and managing the control room for the weekly TV Mass.
• Manages production crew for weekly TV Mass to ensure a high level of production consistency.
• Works closely with Director of Communications and staff to produce content that resonates, provokes engagement, and evangelizes through the diocese's social media audience.
• Collaborates with development of content calendar.
• Board ops responsibility for podcast production and streaming.
• Creating storyboards and scripts for digital video projects
• Overseeing video production from pre- to post-production
• Working with clients to determine project scope, objectives, and budget
• Managing video editing, graphics, and special effects
• Ensuring quality control of all video content
• Assisting in the creation and refinement of scripts and project concepts
• Creating and managing a budget for all production costs and expenses
• Sourcing staff, negotiating salaries, and hiring equipment
• Scheduling all tasks within the video production process
• Directing on-screen talent

Additional Job Functions

• Perform any other job-related functions necessary to ensure the smooth flow of the operations within the Diocese Communications Office and other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Possesses strong team-building skills and work well with crew.
• Familiar with all aspects of television production including graphics, editing, and live remote broadcasting and comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
• Working knowledge and proficiency with Final Cut Pro
• Understanding of copyright law for music and video
• Excellent grammar, writing and copy-editing skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of industry standard video hardware (cameras, lighting, teleprompter, etc.)
• Experience with onscreen graphics (banner, locator, identifier) for live streams and broadcasts
• Knowledge of route feeds for broadcasts, live streams and/or recording purposes
• Strong problem-solving skills with minimal supervision.
• Must be willing to work Sundays, including Christmas and Easter
Minimum Preferred Qualifications
Minimum three years of experience producing, editing video for live television and social platforms
• Proficiency with Final Cut Pro
• Videography skills
• Strong journalistic writing skills and editorial judgment
• Familiarity with AP Style
• Strong knowledge of Catholic Mass and a superior eye for spotting compelling video
• Able to act on breaking news and respond quickly to newsworthy topics
• Strong organizational skills and work ethics
• Ability to take direction well and provide self-direction
• Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments well under extreme deadlines
• Able to provide examples of work

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Video Production, Communications Media Arts or Related Field Preferred.

Work Environment

• This job is operated in a professional office environment
• This role routinely involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
• May require an occasional evening or weekend to address urgent issues or launch new features

Physical Demands

• This is not a largely sedentary role; and this position would require lifting, moving, holding and carrying video equipment, and frequent bending or standing, and operating equipment as necessary.
