Job Description

Job Title Staff Medical Sonographer
Classification Staff | Member of Medical Services Team
Reports to Medical Manager of Sonography

Primary Function
Be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with some experience in OB ultrasound and able to perform limited OB ultrasounds for patients with a positive pregnancy test given at A Woman's Concern, majority being first trimester scans. This includes both transvaginal and transabdominal scans as needed. Exams are to be performed according to the Policies and Procedures of AWC and to ensure procedures and equipment are cared for in a way that is consistent with OSHA requirements and generally accepted practices and principles.

Job Duties
• Patient Ultrasound Exams
Ensures patient feels welcome upon arrival. Explains procedure and expectations while obtaining consent. Prepares equipment and patient for ultrasound scan. Obtains high quality imaging for our medical doctor to interpret. Provides patient with education about the ultrasound and pertinent information pertaining to her pregnancy using the Focus model. Welcomes and educates guests when appropriate. Upholds standards of care, professional demeanor, patient privacy and adheres to OSHA guidelines. Disinfects and cleans all areas used for patient care as well as ultrasound equipment and probes following each scan with documentation of these processes. Communicates with our medical doctor about all scans and follows up when needed.

• Professional Development:
Maintain professional registry for RDMS through continuing education as well as CPR certification. Enhance professional and personal knowledge and skills specifically in the areas of working at a Pregnancy Medical Resource Center as well as matters about women's health on a continual basis through formal training, CE's, seminars, programs, literature search & networking. Also required to attend monthly All Hands team meetings, monthly Focus team meetings and annual trainings as well as fundraising events.

Physical Demands
Activities in performance of duties include sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 10lbs, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, keystroking on a keyboard or similar device, talking, hearing and seeing.

Physically able to stand for long periods of time, has good eyesight or corrected vision and has steady hands.
