Job Description

Contract Period: 10 month

Reports to: Middle School principal

Position summary and purpose:
Monte Cassino School is a Catholic Benedictine, independent, co-ed school, Grades PK3-8, with an Early Childhood Learning Center (PK3-K), Elementary School (grades 1-4), and Middle School (grades 5-8) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. With over 780 students, and rooted in the
Values of Benedictine education, Monte Cassino School inspires its students to lead and serve, through lives of purpose that integrate faith, academics, community, and personal growth in pursuit of the school motto, "Every day at Monte Cassino School we do our best
so that in all things God may be Glorified."

Teachers at Monte Cassino are responsible for providing an appropriate educational atmosphere which encourages student learning, and the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological growth and maturity in accordance with school philosophy, goals and objectives. Teachers must possess a strong work ethic and demonstrate initiative independently and within a team context. We are searching for a
teacher who can embrace the joys and challenges of working in a school, celebrating the wonderful moments and navigating the messy ones with empathy and resilience.

Teacher duties and responsibilities:
• Teach Spanish I and II to 6th-8th grade students.
• Create a positive learning environment for all students.
• Follow Oklahoma and/or national standards to teach assigned subject area.
• Plan and prepare appropriate lessons and units of study.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress.
• Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students.
• Support students academically, socially and spiritually throughout their time at Monte Cassino.
• Provide assistance to students during tutorial.
• Teach/lead an advisory class as assigned by principal.
• May be required to organize, supervise and chaperone field trips, or other school activities.
• Work closely with teachers, counselors, principal and other staff on school initiatives.
• Be an active participant in the life of the middle school.
• Assist with duties such a carline, lunch/recess supervision.

The desired candidate has:
• Must have valid Oklahoma High School Spanish certification (6-12th grade)
• A Bachelor's degree in education or teaching subject area
• Teaching experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong problem solving skills
• Collegial disposition and ability to work along side adults in the community
• Sense of humor, creativity and flexibility to adapt as needed
• Passion for working with students aged 10-14
• Proficiency with technology

Physical requirements:
• Works at desk and on a computer for periods of time; must be able to operate office
equipment
• Works in a fast-paced environment, dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines
• Must have the physical energy and stamina to move about campus throughout the day, including climbing staircases; may work long hours
• Be able to occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
• Works intermittently in a variety of weather conditions, including the possibility of heat and cold
