The Opportunity:
We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled School Nurse to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a permanent, hourly position during the academic year (August to May), with daily hours from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

This position plays a vital role in the daily life of our school community-providing high-quality care to our students, ensuring a safe and healthy school environment, and supporting wellness communication with families and staff. The School Nurse works closely with our administration, faculty, and families to promote the well-being of every child entrusted to our care.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily student attendance and reporting: Monitor and report daily attendance, collaborating with the administrative team to ensure accuracy and compliance

Diabetes management: Provide care and daily support for students with Type-1 diabetes, including managing continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) and insulin administration needs

Allergy management: Coordinate care and maintain safety plans for students with severe allergies; ensure readiness of emergency medications like EpiPens

Student wellness support: Assess student health concerns, provide appropriate first aid or nursing care, and communicate professionally and compassionately with families

Immunization tracking: Monitor and manage immunization records in compliance with state requirements; support Admissions and Registrar as needed

Health record management: Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students, including medications, care plans, and visit logs

Health policy support: Contribute to the review, development, and implementation of school health protocols and emergency response plans

Allergy awareness: Promote an "allergy aware" environment through education and policy support

Collaboration and communication: Serve as a point of contact for parent concerns regarding student health and well-being; partner with teachers and administrators in a proactive and supportive manner

Qualifications:

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license

Experience in pediatric or school nursing, preferably in educational settings

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in working with children and families

Professionalism, discretion, and compassion in managing sensitive health information and student needs

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced school environment

Comfortable with basic digital tools and systems for documentation and communication

Physical and Other Demands:

Ability to perform routine physical tasks such as standing, walking, computer use, and basic first aid care

Must be able to maintain calm and professionalism in high-stress situations

Strong ability to communicate with clarity, warmth, and discretion with students, parents, and colleagues
