Job Description
This position is located in Wilmington, Delaware. The Catholic Diocese of Wilmington is seeking a Fund Development and Public Relations Manager who will be responsible for managing and supporting the fundraising, public relations, and communications activities of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington.The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, and may require occasional availability outside of normal business hours to support events as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Work in collaboration with Catholic Charities team to identify, solicit, and record gifts in support of Catholic Charities and its mission.
- Facilitate efforts of event planning committees for the annual Tribute Dinner, the Bishop's 5K Run, and other major donor events; produce relevant correspondence; maintain guest lists; interact with caterer and venue personnel.
- Secure corporate and business sponsorship for fundraising events.
- Research, identify, and develop potential new revenue sources.
- Build and cultivate legacy-giving, planned-giving, and major gifts programs utilizing moves management strategies; develop effective communication and marketing strategies.
- Provide oversight to contract grant writer; serve as liaison to contract grant writer and Catholic Charities team.
- Coordinate production of all direct mail fundraising efforts, including mid-year (Christmas in July) and end-of-year efforts.
- Process all donations and ensure timely acknowledgement.
- Enter all gifts, grants, in-kind, constituents and prospects in Raiser's Edge; perform ongoing database maintenance to ensure integrity; generate queries, reports, exports and other collection data as needed.
- Analyze Raiser's Edge and Crescendo data to build effective giving strategies for Catholic Charities.
- In collaboration with Catholic Charities team, complete applications, mid-year and final reports for federated fundraising campaigns such as United Way, State Employee Charitable Campaign, Combined Federal Campaign, Maryland Charity Campaign, and other employer-sponsored fundraising campaigns.
- Write, edit, update, and distribute a wide variety of effective, professional, public relations publications and collateral materials, including reports, brochures, fact sheets, electronic newsletters, and other e-communications.
- Update and maintain a coordinated, professional, Catholic Charities online presence.
- In coordination with the diocesan Communication Director, prepare and distribute press releases and statements covering notable agency activities and accomplishments; serve as spokesperson on media interactions. Provide a professional presence at outreach events and other opportunities to promote and/or impact the agency.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in a communication-related field and three years' experience in fund-raising and public relations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, planning, and research skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to express thoughts clearly and professionally.
- Strong familiarity with the use of social media in a professional capacity.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven effective public speaking ability.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet required deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
- Ability to think critically, creatively, and anticipate trends.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficient computer skills including Excel, database management, and experience with development software such as Raiser's Edge and Crescendo.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while working with confidential/sensitive materials, information and data.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with individuals from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Willingness to consent to and ability to pass a criminal background check in accordance with federal/state/local laws.
