Job Description
Marin Catholic currently has an opening for a full-time Counseling Department Associate for the 2025-26 school year.* Position will begin August 2025.
The Counseling program's mission is to provide academic and personal support services that will assist each student to develop the highest degree of personal responsibility and growth. Emphasis is placed on academic preparation and course scheduling, decision-making, social development, and especially on the college search, selection and application process. The department follows a developmental model, building upon previously learned skills.
The Counseling Dept. Assistant will report to the Director of Counseling and Dean of Studies.
Essential Functions:
-Coordinates and oversees all college rep visits, college catalogs, and application dates and deadlines.
-Updates and maintains all college resources for the Counseling Department.
-Coordinates all aspects of the dissemination of scholarship information and college financial aid, assisting seniors and parents in the scholarship search and application process.
-Conducts interviews with seniors to determine their qualifications for scholarships and provides extensive information for parents, through meetings, emails and phone calls,
-Serves as a liaison with colleges and universities' financial aid offices, establishing and maintaining relationships that help students and parents, as well as make Marin Catholic known.
-Maintains accurate records of senior scholarships. Compiles data for later use and help to the Counseling Department.
-Manages and maintains department use of SCOIR.
-Trains new counselors, parents and students in the use of SCOIR
-Maintains list of possible summer internship opportunities for students and trains students for interviews
-Coordinates and implements the school wide testing program, to include the PSAT, PLAN and the AP Program, as well as the Mock SAT and ACT. Includes the ordering of materials and organizing and facilitating all testing on campus.
-Maintains records of awards from tests and submits information to the Dean of Studies for recognition at school events.
-Assist with the coordination and management of Counseling Department
-Keeps detailed meeting minutes.
-Maintains Department calendar and timeline
-Assists with the coordination and implementation of Counseling Department evening events (College Nights, College Fairs, Parent Education, Case Studies Program).
-Assists Department members with new student meeting process
-Maintains Department communication with Parent/Student community
-Maintains Department resources on MC Connect
-Maintains Shared Drive folder with Department material
Disseminates appropriate records for each counselor
Qualifications, credentials, experience, knowledge & skills for the position:
-A minimum of 5 years working in a high school setting, preferred
-Knowledge and understanding of the college application process
-Excellent communication skills
-Excellent time management, organizational skills
-Experience working in a high school Counseling Department, preferred
-Practicing Catholic in good standing, preferred
-Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, parents and staff
-Maintains best professional practices in communicating with peers, students and parents
The wage range for this full-time, non-exempt, school year position is $30-$39/hr. Full-time classified staff at Marin Catholic are eligible for benefits including health and dental insurance, medical and dependent care flex plan, Archdiocesan pension, and 403b.
