PreK-8th Grade Catholic School Principal St. Luke School - Shoreline, WashingtonSt. Luke School, located in Shoreline, Washington, is a thriving institution within the Archdiocese of Seattle. Our school has experienced consistent growth and garnered numerous accolades over the years. Most notably, we hold the distinction of being the first Catholic school on the West Coast to achieve International Baccalaureate (IB) World School status for both our primary grade and middle grade programs.
St. Luke School, established in 1957, has built a strong reputation for academic excellence over its long history. Our commitment to quality education has made us a leading Catholic school in northern King and southern Snohomish counties. We continuously strive to maintain this distinction by upgrading our facilities and instructional programs, while offering enriching extracurricular activities to complement our academic curriculum. St. Luke School currently educates more than 430 students in preschool through eighth grade, with enrollment expected to grow further in the 2025-2026 school year. We maintain two classrooms per grade level and offer a comprehensive preschool program for children 3-4 years of age. General Job Description
We seek a visionary principal who is committed to whole-child development and can lead us in our mission to provide the highest quality Catholic faith-based education. The ideal candidate would be:
• A practicing Roman Catholic who is actively involved in his or her faith community
• An enthusiastic representative of the Catholic faith
• A spiritual leader
• A champion of exceptional standards in academic achievement, social and emotional development and religious and spiritual growth
This leader will guide our school in maintaining a tradition of excellence while also fostering a nurturing, faith-centered environment for our students.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Religious/Spiritual Formation
• Collaborates with the pastor in implementing the mission of the parish and the school as its largest ministry.
• Ensures the development and implementation of an overall learning environment, which promotes Catholic faith formation/education, Christian virtue, moral and ethical decision making, Catholic social teaching, and Christian leadership.
Supervision and Operations
• Collaborates with the administration, faculty, and staff for the implementation of all policies and programs of the school.
• Collaborates with the School Commission and other parent/teacher organizations.
• Oversees the development of an overall financial plan for the school, in collaboration with the school finance committee, and develops and executes the annual budget process.
• Builds and fosters relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
• Ensures the preparation and submission of all necessary reports to the state and Archdiocese Office for Catholic Schools.
• Leads overall school compliance and implementation of policy.
• Ensures the development and maintenance of effective communication systems between parents, teachers, and school administrators.
• Interprets and implements policies related to faculty, staff, and students.
• Supervises, develops, evaluates, and mentors all certified and support staff. Ensures that the proper elements of instruction are implemented; coordinates the teacher supervision and evaluation processes/professional growth process.
• Screens, interviews, and recommends the selection of staff.
• Manages school safety and security processes, including crisis management procedures.
• Ensures a positive, proactive, and safe climate and culture.
• Coordinates the building and grounds maintenance program in collaboration with parish administration.
Curriculum and Instruction
• Provides visionary leadership maintaining a whole child and comprehensive approach to student learning/formation to create a positive, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment that reflects the values and mission of the school.
• Leads the school community in its understanding of the International Baccalaureate (IB) mission and philosophy, the Learner Profile, and the structure of the IB Primary Years Program and Middle Years Program.
• Ensures the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive curriculum program, which complies with Archdiocesan and state standards, as well as IB Primary Years Program and Middle Years Program curriculum and philosophy.
• Ensures that learning standards are developed and maintained for students with an inclusive approach to teaching and learning.
• Ensures the development of policy and process for discipline and the formation of students.
• Leads the building of comprehensive goals and facilitates the delivery of programs, student discipline, scheduling assessments, and recordkeeping.
School Advancement
• Leads, supports, and collaborates on fundraising and development initiatives, including the annual fund campaign, annual auction, endowment support, and future endeavors.
• Oversees school enrollment services and advancement efforts for student/family retention and community engagement.
• Along with the development office, works to secure private, state, local, and federal grants designed to subsidize costs related to facilities, curriculum, and expanding educational offerings.
Auxiliary Services
• Oversees service projects, school travel, evening school functions, and attends school related community events.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Fundamental Requirement: All candidates must be practicing Roman Catholics and hold a current Washington State Principal Credential or have the ability to obtain the required credentials. Preferred Experience: The ideal candidate would have a minimum of three years teaching experience, some administrative experience, and a familiarity with the International Baccalaureate program. Candidates should demonstrate the skills and experience necessary to effectively lead all aspects of school management, from daily operations to long-term development. Other: The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with the pastor, school and parish staff, consultative bodies, families, as well as their colleagues in the Archdiocese and the Office for Catholic Schools. This collaborative approach is essential to ensure the continued vitality and success of our school community within the broader context of Catholic education in the Archdiocese. The principal should be passionate about nurturing children's Catholic faith formation and have a strong foundation in contemporary, research-based educational practices.

Salary
$125,000 - $175,000 Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, an applicant's skills, and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
