Job Description
The Development Director is responsible for fundraising and development efforts at St. Luke University Parish, particularly in its campus ministry for students at GVSU. This position facilitates identifying and asking prospective donors, cultivating relationships with current donors, and implementing a strategic approach to annual fundraising.SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Creating a strategic approach for ongoing development efforts at St. Luke's
- Identifying and reaching out to potential donors to ask for support
- Daily phone calls and in-person meetings with current and prospective donors
- Database management of current, past, and prospective donors
- Providing regular updates of gratitude and ongoing value to current donors
- Coordinating "Giving Tuesday" and other major fundraising campaigns
- Planning annual donor appreciation events
- Connecting with alumni and planning alumni reunion events
- Sharing success stories through various media (newsletters, social media, etc.)
- Occasional grant writing or seeking out unique development opportunities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Attend monthly staff meetings and monthly finance council meetings
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Imaginative vision to create a development strategy from scratch
- Self-motivated and able to achieve big goals
- Familiarity with media and email marketing
- Comfortable with lots of relational time (phone calls or in person meetings)
- Proficient with database management
Sales or marketing experience required
Bachelor's degree preferred
