POSITION TITLE: Physical Science TeacherSUPERVISED BY: Assistant Principal for Academics
FLSA STATUS: Full-time Exempt (5/5th)
EFFECTIVE DATE: August 1, 2025
COMPENSATION: $69,626 - $109,376 per year

Position Summary:
This is a 5/5 (100% FTE) position, teaching Chemistry, Physics or a combination.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Model for students the characteristics of a Lasallian/Vincentian educator;
Promote SHC's mission, philosophy and Integral Student Outcomes;
Facilitate student formulation and investigation of questions about the natural world through a variety of discovery labs, shared inquiry, individual research, and scientific data creation and analysis;
In collaboration with Science Department colleagues and per the department goals (listed at https://www.shcp.edu/academics/category/science-department):
Design and implement standards-based lessons to facilitate critical thinking and mastery of essential skills and understandings as determined by teachers of same prep;
Plan and implement what students will learn, how they will learn, and how they will be assessed in a manner appropriate to the grade level;
Provide regular and varied assessments of student learning to compile accurate grades and properly determine what and how all students are learning;
Maintain an interactive learning environment, in both physical and virtual learning spaces;
Communicate proactively and consistently with students, parents, and school personnel;
Keep current and complete digital grading and attendance records;
Collaborate in the school's cocurricular activities, service learning, and retreat programs;
Engage in professional development, especially our four-year New Faculty Professional Development and Support Program, becoming a reflective and growth-minded practitioner who integrates best and next teaching practices rooted in the SHC mission;
Actively participate in SHC's strategic initiatives to strengthen meaningful diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging practices, especially strategies to support equitable learning, culturally responsive teaching, social emotional learning, and universal design for learning;
Strengthen the mission of SHC and the charisms of the Daughters of Charity and De La Salle Christian Brothers and Department of Catholic Schools through their formational programs.
Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in physical science, earth or life science;
Teaching credential or work toward it; single-subject teaching credential in Science preferred;
Experience working with high school students;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively to promote student learning.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Science;
Experience in a Catholic high school setting;
