Job Description

Located in St. Louis, MO area

Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000 annually depending on qualifications

Objectives:
Assists the Chief Financial Officer and Finance Team to ensure the Financial Operations reflect the Vision, Mission, Values, and strategic plans of the Society in the United States are implemented professionally, on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
-Duties relative to the accounting functions of SVDP National Council and its subsidiaries, Disaster Services Corporation-SVDPUSA, SVDP National Foundation and SVDP National Stores.
- Coordinates the maintaining of financial and tax records in compliance with retention policy.
- Assists CFO in the preparation of annual budgets, updating budget reports monthly and reporting to key users.
- Performs monthly account analysis, reconciliations and updates related schedules.
- Assists CFO in preparation of monthly financial statements, activity reports, and quarterly financial forecasts.
- Manages cash flow and forecasting.
- Coordinates financial aspects of grant reporting and other departmental accounting requirements.
- Manages data exchange between the National Council and auditors for performance of consolidated annual audit and preparation of forms 990.
- Assists in the preparation of financial reporting for donors and charity monitoring organizations.
- Supports and assists other teams in overlapping financial reporting functions.
- Engages the leadership team and those responsible for development to assure that all understand and support short and long-term financial planning and projections.
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws including 501(c)3 issues and rules for financial and tax reporting.
- Assists in the evaluation of risk management activities that include, but are not limited to insurance coverage, receivables, payables, investment holdings, cash operating accounts, etc.
- Responsible, in conjunction with CFO, to monitor and facilitate adherence to procedures necessary to comply with established policies and procedures.
- Maintains knowledge of developments and trends in finance and administration including technological advances.
- Maintains confidentiality about any proprietary data and privileged information concerning SVdP, its staff, members, volunteers, entities, and programs.
- Other assignments as determined by the supervisor.

- Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting Degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- Five years or more of related experience required.
- CPA designation highly preferred.
- Knowledge of not-for-profit organization operations preferred.
- Firsthand experience and familiarity with banking, investment, and accounting procedures.
- Proficient in the use and application of accounting software and Microsoft Office.
- Scope/Complexity:
- The position has a distinct focus on financial administration.
- The ability to understand, develop and assist in the implementation of procedures and processes for the effective operation of the National Council Office and all Subsidiary operations.
- Accountability:
- Supports the Rule and By-Laws of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
- Adheres to policies and procedures of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and all pertinent legal regulations.
- Prepares and accomplishes annual performance and program objectives.
- Participates in annual self-evaluation and performance review.
