Heaven & Earth Cafe is located Downtown, Scranton, PA that specializes in making people's day, every day. We do this by providing excellent freshly roasted coffee, hand crafted specialty drinks, made-to-order food, and extraordinary customer service in a space that is warm and welcoming to all. Breakfast/Lunch Chef Job Description
As chef, you will take charge of the kitchen! You will craft and serve a variety of handheld breakfast and lunch items including sandwiches, soups, baked goods, snacks and more! Kitchen responsibilities will include food preparation, made-to-order food at a fast pace, washing dishes, ordering and managing inventory and keeping your station clean at all times. To be successful in this role, you should have strong communication and multi-tasking skills, work extremely well in a fast-paced environment and have general kitchen, cooking and cutting knowledge. You should be able to work 8+ hour shifts, early mornings, occasional evenings and Saturdays.

Duties:
• Welcome customers into the space, inform them about specials or new items, answer questions, and accept orders and payments.
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g., dietary constraints, preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
• Prepare foods that look beautiful within our time standards.
• Make a variety of food items such as eggs, sandwiches, energy balls, salads and smoothies.
• Create hand-crafted coffee drinks such as espressos, lattes, cappuccinos.
• Collaborate with the owner to create new items, daily specials, and
• Clean, prep and restock station, empty trash, and sanitize equipment and utensils.
• Take inventory and replenish items.
• Comply with health and safety regulations.
• Have pride in making a consistent product every time.
• Provide extraordinary experiences for both our guests and your team members.
• Create genuine connections with customers and community.
• Receive and process payments.

Qualifications:
Previous work experience in a restaurant, kitchen or BOH position
Moving with a sense of urgency.
Hands-on experience cooking, cutting & prepping foods.
Knowledge of sanitation regulations
Flexibility to work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
Training and willingness to continue learning about food, beverage + coffee.
Ability to lift 40lbs.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods.
Excellent communication skills
Commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence.
Multitasking and speed skills are a must.
A desire to spread goodness to all people.
High school diploma; relevant training is a plus
ServSafe certificate is a major PLUS
