Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:St. Paul Street Evangelization is looking for a joyful, mature Catholic disciple to join our staff as our Head of Web Development and Technology. Our mission is to train, equip, and mobilize Catholics for the urgent work of evangelization through St. Paul Street Evangelization's hundreds of street teams and School of Evangelization.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must embrace the mission of St. Paul Street Evangelization
- Must be an intentional disciple of Jesus Christ and a Catholic in good standing
- Be organized and exhibit "follow through" on tasks and goals. Be able to multitask and meet deadlines
- Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability
- Must have the ability and willingness to learn new skills as required for tasks that are assigned
- Must have experience or familiarity with programming and web design:
- - Ability to write highly performant code that follows best practices for documentation and ease of maintenance
Knowledge of basic web development languages (preferably PHP, Javascript, CSS and mySQL)
- - Ability to find, research, and deploy web software solutions. Prior experience or familiarity with Wordpress (or a similar website framework) preferred
- - Ability to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot website integration with third-party services. Prior experience or familiarity with payment processing systems such as Stripe, Braintree, and/or Paypal preferred
- Must have a good mind for troubleshooting, and the ability to come up with solutions for problems that have not been previously encountered
- Must be adaptable to new technologies, tools, and platforms across various domains, including software development, AI-based productivity tools, and digital marketing, with a willingness to take on additional job responsibilities as time allows.
- Must have experience or familiarity with G-Suite apps for office and productivity (Gmail, Google Chat, Google Drive/Docs, etc.)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Website Development
- Build a new back-end framework for SPSE's websites:
Examine and understand the software and features of the existing websites, and come up with solutions to make website features more user-friendly and reliable
- Research available software/plugins to determine what best fulfills our needs
- Where an existing software solution is not available to meet our needs, develop website plugins to provide the required features that are well-documented, easy to maintain, and follow best practices for coding
- Use a development/staging website environment to test proposed solutions and provide proofs of concept for staff to preview and give feedback
- When completed, deploy the new websites into production, and migrate existing user data from the old websites to the new ones
- Maintain and continue to improve the new websites
Monitor SPSE's websites and troubleshoot technical issues, as well as maintain communication with staff about the status of current issues
- Install security and software updates; troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during updates
-Continue to improve the websites by finding or developing software solutions to replace software that becomes outdated, or to provide for new feature requests
-Respond to website support requests
Note: these items listed under "Website Responsibilities" will be the top priority for the Head of Web Development and Technology. Once the rebuild of the back-end of SPSE's websites is completed, the workload required for web development is expected to decrease, at which point the employee will be asked to take on the additional responsibilities listed below, as time allows.
Database Maintenance and Improvement
- Learn and become familiar with SPSE's existing in-house donor database
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the Visual Basic and Python scripts that are used to automate database updates
- Identify and make recommendations on ways to improve the database and its API integrations with our websites, payment processors, etc. This could potentially include migration of our database to a more modern system, if desirable and feasible.
Productivity Improvement
- Research and make recommendations on newly available AI-based tools that can be used to increase productivity in emails, meetings, and other communications, as well as keeping track of, updating, and helping staff understand and remain familiar with SPSE's company policies
- Deploy these tools and assist staff in learning how to use them
Online Sales
- Manage Amazon Marketplace and Ebay stores: List new products and assist with tracking and managing inventory, including shipments to Amazon's warehouses.
- Inventory Management
- Manage Google Ad Words for St. Paul Street Evangelization
- Manage Advertising on Social Media platforms
Implement solutions for gathering data and metrics on donations, sales, engagement in the online school, or other data points that can be used to measure the success of online advertising, advancement campaigns, etc.,
