Job Description

Position Mission

FOCUS, a Colorado nonprofit, has one mission: to know Christ Jesus and fulfill His Great Commission. FOCUS missionaries have invited college students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church, inspiring and equipping them for a lifetime of Christ-centered evangelization.

FOCUS has experienced consistent year-to-year growth since its founding in 1998 and currently serves in 44 US states and five foreign countries, through the dedication of 850+ missionaries. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn and be mentored in all aspects of Catholic nonprofit leadership. They will provide support to the Legal Team in the following areas, with sensitivity to FOCUS' unique religious mission of Christ-centered evangelization and discipleship:

Position Responsibilities

1. General legal matters: This will involve working closely with departments and communicating lawyers, undertaking legal research across a variety of areas (e.g. HR, commercial, religious freedom), communicating with external parties, etc.

2. Administrative tasks: Submit invoices, keep legal and risk budget on track, coordinate legal meetings and communicate with outside counsel on legal projects and tasks. Assist with clerical tasks such as managing documents and contract life management system, scheduling appointments, and communicating with departments and legal team on imporant legal tasks.

3. Compliance program: Assist in building and managing the corporate compliance program.

4. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM): Assist in the oversight of the ERM program, working closely with risk leaders across the apostolate.

5. Special projects: Assist in the management of legal and non-legal special project

Qualifications

A practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church. There is no other background, qualification, or experience that can substitute for this requirement
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
Paralegal certificate or prior experience working in legal field desirable/willingness to obtain certification
Approximately 2 years of professional experience, especially in the legal field, is desirable
Compensation

For this role, we anticipate paying $50,000-$60,000/year. This role is also eligible for bonus pay. This range is an estimate. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the provided range and will be adjusted based on various factors including qualifications, experience, abilities and geographic location.
