Parish Catechetical Leader

Job Description

Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Verona, New Jersey is a large suburban parish made up of 2,800 registered parish families. There is also a vibrant school with over 200 children in grades PreK 3 - 8th grade. We are looking to hire a Parish Catechetical Leader to minister to the parish. Our program seeks to educate the young members in the ways of the faith who are in grades 1 - 9. During the course of this process, students are prepared to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. There are approximately 500 students involved in this process annually.
The PCL is a full-time, exempt, at-will position within the parish. Under the direction of the Pastor, the individual plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the Parish Catechetical program. Working together with the entire staff, the PCL will assist in helping Our Lady of the Lake to grow as a Christ-centered community. As a representative of the Roman Catholic Church, the PCL will conduct him-herself according to the goals and mission of the Church while performing their duties.
The ideal candidate must be a member of the Roman Catholic Church, principled in organization, administration, budget and personal management. Knowledge of group dynamics and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups is a must. Prior experience in catechesis is helpful. The PCL should possess at least a bachelor's degree in Theology, Education or related field as well as strong computer skills in MS Office.
