Job Description

The Youth Minister is responsible for developing, coordinating, and leading a comprehensive parish youth ministry program for middle and high school students. The program will provide opportunities for evangelization, faith formation, service, leadership development, and community building in alignment with the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Development
Plan, organize, and implement a comprehensive youth ministry program for grades 8-12.

-Provide gatherings, small groups, and special events that foster spiritual growth, catechesis, prayer, service, and fellowship.
-Incorporate opportunities for retreats, mission trips, conferences, and service projects.
-Ensure all activities integrate Scripture, Catholic teaching, and sacramental life.

Faith Formation & Sacramental Life
-Collaborate with the pastor and faith formation staff to support Confirmation preparation and ongoing discipleship.
-Promote active participation of youth in parish life, liturgy, and service.
-Provide resources and mentoring for youth to grow in prayer, vocation awareness, and Catholic identity.

Leadership & Relationship Building
-Recruit, train, and mentor adult volunteers and young adult leaders for youth ministry.
-Build strong relationships with youth and their families, creating a welcoming and safe environment.
-Communicate effectively with parents and parish community about youth ministry opportunities.

Administration & Collaboration
-Manage program budget and maintain necessary records (attendance, permission slips, etc.).
-Ensure compliance with diocesan safe environment and youth protection policies.
-Collaborate with parish staff to integrate youth ministry with overall parish mission.
-Participate in diocesan events, trainings, and gatherings related to youth ministry.

Qualifications:
-Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
-Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or related field (or equivalent experience).
-Training/certification in youth ministry preferred (or willingness to pursue certification).
-Experience in youth ministry, catechesis, or related work with adolescents.
-Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
-Ability to work evenings, weekends, and attend retreats/trips as required.
