Job Description

St. Coleman Catholic Parish in Pompano Beach, Florida is hiring for a part-time Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE). This candidate is a lay ecclesial minister who has the pastor's delegated responsibility and authority to develop and implement a plan for lifelong comprehensive and systematic catechesis. The CRE is also responsible for implementing and supervising the Youth Ministry of the parish. The Coordinator of Religious Education performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

Schedule: 20 hours a week.

Functions and Responsibilities include:
Develops and implements a plan for comprehensive and systematic catechesis for children, youth and adults based on the plan for the Archdiocese of Miami.
Establishes long and short-term goals for effective parish catechesis.
Coordinates the parish catechetical programs from adults to children, including Christian Initiation, Family, and Infant Baptism Preparation.
Maintains accurate records on student enrollment, attendance and sacramental preparation and submits requested data to the Office of Catechesis.
Ensures a pastoral approach for all in setting program structures, e.g. calendar dates, scheduling use of facilities, procedures for registration and fee collection.
Publishes a handbook which contains parish programs and sacramental policies and procedures in accordance with the Archdiocesan guidelines.
Engages pastor and pastoral staff in the annual process of assessment, planning and evaluation.
Establishes a representative catechetical advisory council to ensure quality parish catechesis.
Assures adequate supervision of minors during the entire time they are on the parish premises for catechetical activities.
Prepares annual budget and oversees expenditures after its approval by the pastor.
Recruits and screens candidates for the role of catechist.
Trains catechists and volunteers providing on-going spiritual formation at all levels.
Ensures that all catechists are certified according to Archdiocese guidelines.
Provides continued support for catechists.
Develops role descriptions and provides regular evaluation for catechetical personnel and support staff.
Cooperates with inter-parish planning for the development of regional programs.

Qualifications:
Practicing Catholic who fully adheres to the Church's teachings in faith and morals.
Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Certificate in Theology, Religious Education, Pastoral Studies, or a related field from a qualified Catholic University or equivalent.
Strong computer literacy, including ability to navigate online applications and search engines effectively, with proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of basic project management principles.
Excellent customer service skills, including ability to maintain focus on and professionalism with people in challenging situations, both in person and by phone.
Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time with accuracy.
Excellent oral and written English-language communication skills.
Good Spanish-language spoken communication skills are preferred.
Must be dependable and reliable.
Must be able to lift and carry, on occasion, bundles of catechetical and program materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Ability to walk and stand for prolonged hours as required by the parish catechetical sessions.
