Job Description

Position Summary:
The Campus Minister plays a vital role in fostering a vibrant Catholic community on campus. This dynamic role involves developing and leading engaging programs like faith-sharing groups and retreats, while identifying and mentoring student leaders. You'll create opportunities for students to explore their faith, build relationships, and participate in service-learning initiatives that promote justice and inclusion.

Responsibilities:
Develop and direct small group faith-sharing opportunities that help engage students in conversations about faith and provide spaces for community-building.

Identify, train, and mentor students to take leadership of Christian communities on campus.

Provide regular opportunities for students to learn about and practice developing a life of prayer.

Develop and maintain a menu of retreats that serve the spiritual needs of students; these include entry-level retreats as well as retreats that invite deeper spiritual exploration. This includes, but is not limited to, recruiting teams to help lead the retreats, managing a retreat budget, and accompanying students on retreat.

With Campus Ministry team members, engage in strategic visioning for inviting students into opportunities for faith exploration and community.

Engage in collaborative opportunities within, including participation on committees and outreach to student groups and organizations.
Supporting the Office of Residence Life for residence hall retreats, and other faith-based programming.

Oversee and implement interfaith outreach on campus.

Develop opportunities to deepen awareness of and commitment to the call within the Catholic faith to pursue justice and inclusion, with special responsibility for service-learning initiatives.

Help build and lead service-learning programs with campus and Great Falls community collaborators.

Provide spiritual mentoring and pastoral care, including oversight of the Spiritual Mentor program.

Support communication efforts, including management of Campus Ministry website, social media, and other communications.

Other duties as relevant to the duties of the position or as assigned by supervisor or designee.

Requirements:
Ability to learn, respect, and contribute to the mission of the University of Providence and the mission of Campus Ministry.

Ability to articulate and invite reflection on Christian and Catholic theological perspectives in an accessible way to college students.

Skills in developing programming that facilitates students' attention to the spiritual life and desire to grow in deeper relationship with God.

Desire to engage in compassionate and pastoral listening and outreach to students in need of support.

Willingness to engage with principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and to explore creative opportunities to integrate these principles into Campus Ministry programs and opportunities.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in theology, divinity, pastoral ministry, or religious education required, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Experience:
Three years of experience in professional ministry in Catholic or other faith traditions, including prior experience or training in facilitating theological reflection, or equivalent education and/or experience preferred.

Experience with developing or leading a variety of retreats preferred.

Experience developing student leaders preferred.
